The Belfry Golf Course

The Belfry is one of the best known resorts in Great Britain and has played host to the Ryder Cup - the spirited contest between professional golfers of the U.S. and Europe. A smashing addition to any course library.

Course Information

  • Course designed by Peter Alliss & Dave Thomas, opened in 1977
  • 74 rating/131 slope
  • 7118 total yards from championship tees
  • 18 holes, Par 72

The Belfry has played host to four Ryder Cup events - in 1985, 1989, 1993 and 2002 - the most out of any course in the world.

The course has hosted numerous events on The European Tour International Schedule - most recently the 2000, 2001, and 2002 Benson and Hedges International Open.

"It is one of the great holes of golf in a match play situation - the green nestles between the lake and mature trees to provide a memorable and picturesque setting - it provides the possibility of birdies, eagles or disasters". -- Ken Brown, former Ryder Cup competitor, discussing the par 4, no. 10 hole.
